The president of Javier Milei inaugurated Argentina Week 2026 in New York and defended the need for morality to be a central principle of economic policy.

During his presentation to businessmen, bankers and international investors, the president maintained that his objective is to make Argentina the freest country in the world, although he warned that not all policy instruments are acceptable.

“There are moral restrictions because when you do what is right, the economy thrives. When unfair measures are applied to obtain short-term results, that ends badly,” he said

.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Argentina in the United States together with JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America and brought together business leaders with Argentinian governors and officials in Manhattan.

Defense of private property and capitalism

During her speech, Milei emphasized that her government carried out a process of economic stabilization, fully respecting the

right to property.

The President emphasized that, unlike previous stages of Argentine politics, the current economic program is based on clear principles.

“We have made a cult of property rights and managed to stabilize the economy without having to expropriate anyone,” he said.

He also defended the free enterprise model of capitalism, pointing out that it is not only the most efficient system for generating growth but also the fairest.

Economic Achievements of the Government

In his speech, the president reviewed some of the main results achieved

by his administration.

Among them, he highlighted:

  1. the reduction of the fiscal deficit

  2. the slowdown in inflation

  3. the reduction of taxes

  4. the reduction of poverty

According to Milei, these measures generated structural change in the Argentine economy, allowing the foundations to be laid for a period

of sustained growth.

The President also emphasized that his government had advanced in a process of economic deregulation, aimed at freeing up the productive forces.

“We decided to deregulate and release increasing returns, and that has a strong counterpart in terms of economic growth,” he explained.

Electoral support for the reforms

Milei also stressed that the reforms promoted by his government have strong social support

.

He recalled that in the legislative elections in October, the ruling party achieved a broad parliamentary victory.

As he explained, the libertarian space won half of the seats of deputies at stake and two-thirds of the seats in the Senate, taking the majority away from Peronism in both chambers.

This result made it possible to move forward with structural reforms that for years had been blocked by traditional politics.

Among them, he mentioned labor reform and changes in security and justice.

Argentina as an investment opportunity

During her presentation to the international private sector, Milei also highlighted Argentina's potential as an investment destination

.

The president explained that the country has several strategic sectors with high growth potential.

Among them, he mentioned:

  1. energy

  2. mining

  3. agro-industry

  4. knowledge economy

  5. financial sector

According to the President, Argentina went from being a net importer of energy to an exporter, driven by the development of

its natural resources.

Jamie Dimon.

During his visit to New York, the president also participated in other international activities.

The day before, he gave a lecture at Yeshiva University and then participated in the annual gala organized by The Algemeiner.

In both exhibitions, he reaffirmed his commitment to Western values and his alignment with the United States and Israel.

Next stop: Chile

.

The event will be held at the National Congress in the city of Valparaiso.
