According to numerous sources, the Azeri armed forces are betting on the border with Iran.
Azerbaijani authorities have placed their armed forces in a state of greater readiness and deployed additional units near the border withIran, according to reports cited by political analysts in the region. Although the information has not been officially confirmed by the Baku government, reports indicate that several security agencies in the country have switched to a reinforced alert regime
.
Various sources stated that sources within Azerbaijan indicate that the Ministry of Defense, the Border Guard Service and the Ministry of the Interior have raised their level of operational readiness. According to analysts, such measures usually involve the deployment of additional troops, the strengthening of defensive positions and increased surveillance in strategic areas
.
Some analysts, although the information has not yet been confirmed by official authorities, it cannot be ruled out that military movements are linked to the growing escalation of tensions in the Middle East. In particular, the analyst suggested that Azerbaijan, considered a close ally of Israel, could be involved in a larger regional scenario if the conflict with Iran continues to
intensify. According to several sources, the Azeri army is being deployed on the border with Iran
Relations between Azerbaijan and Iran have been marked for years by political and strategic tensions. One of the most sensitive factors is the presence of a significant population of Azeri origin within Iranian territory. It is estimated that around a quarter of the inhabitants of Iran belong to this ethnic group, mainly concentrated in the northwest of the country, which has historically generated concern in Tehran about possible external influences
or separatist movements.
Frictions are also related to conflicts in the South Caucasus. During the first Nagorno-Karabakh war, Iran maintained a position relatively close to Armenia, causing tensions with Azerbaijan. Decades later, the conflict escalated again during the second Nagorno-Karabakh war, when Azerbaijan regained large territories that had been under Armenian control since the 1990s.
The situation changed definitively in 2023, when Azerbaijan consolidated its control over the Nagorno-Karabakh region after a military offensive that led to the exodus of a large part of the Armenian population from the territory. This result strengthened Baku's strategic position and consolidated its influence in the
South Caucasus. During the conflicts over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, relations between Iran and Azerbaijan deteriorated because of Tehran's support for Armenia
During the 2020 conflict, there were also demonstrations between Azeri communities in northwestern Iran. Some demonstrators criticized the Iranian government's policy toward war and expressed support for Azerbaijan, raising concerns among Iranian authorities about possible internal tensions related
to the ethnic issue.
At the international level, Azerbaijan maintains close political and military relations with Turkey and Israel, alliances that have contributed to the strengthening of its military capabilities in recent years.
For the time being, there is no official confirmation that Azerbaijan is preparing a military operation against Iran. However, reports of a possible deployment of troops on the border reflect growing uncertainty in a region where several conflicts and geopolitical rivalries
continue to evolve simultaneously. Recently, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed peace thanks to the mediation of Donald Trump
