In the last few hours, a series of polls have been released that show a sober but solid advantage on the part of the Ecuadorian president, Daniel Noboa, over his opponent in the next presidential elections to be held, the communist Luisa González.
Reduced to the possibility of only two candidates with a chance of standing in the next elections, the presidential elections to be held in the year 2025 will determine if Ecuador manages to continue with a prosperous path of economic and social recovery, or if it returns to the dark times of corriism, in which corruption and drug trafficking reigned.
According to the latest polls conducted, the intention to vote for the current Ecuadorian president is 36%, while the correísta González has 32% intention, 4 points lower than the main candidate to be victorious in the electoral process.
The focus will now be on obtaining approval from those who are undecided, such as those who declared their intention to vote blank, since they represent 13% and 8% respectively of the total electoral roll.
Poll numbers force candidates to seek votes among the undecided
After the convict and exile in Belgium, Rafael Correa, has left an economic and social disaster in Ecuador, the elections represent an opportunity to continue Daniel Noboa's great work of reconstruction. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the communist González, who has strong ties to drug trafficking, seeks to re-impose a government in which decisions are taken by the criminal Correa.
González's record in the government is not encouraging in the face of what he is expected to do at the head of a country, since a long list of controversies follow him closely.
While serving as head of the country's Ministry of Justice, González issued a terrible decree in which he made it difficult for retirees to collect their corresponding assets, alleging “budget deficiencies”.
Another fact that heavily tarnished González's communist record was an episode in which she made a series of trips to different countries using the presidential plane without submitting the official request to the president. This series of trips without stated reasons to the Ecuadorian state cost the country around 890,000 dollars, for which the Office of the Comptroller General of the State found her responsible.
The corrista candidate, Luisa González, has an extensive record of immoral acts
It will be essential that both candidates know how to reap those votes that for the moment seem to have no destiny in order to be victorious in the elections, each with their respective purposes.
It should be noted that the possibility that González could rise to power represents a great danger for the Ecuadorian people due to the imminent return of correismo to decision-making in the country, signifying a significant deterioration of the economic situation and a very serious worsening of the social situation with regard to drug trafficking.
