Garrahan Hospital incorporated a state-of-the-art tomosimulator, a key piece of equipment for planning radiant treatments in pediatric patients. The new technology is added to the Elekta Evo linear accelerator installed in the health center within the framework of the National Plan for Nuclear Medicine promoted by the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), under the new management of Engineer Martín Porro at the head of the nuclear agency.
This is a highly complex device that allows obtaining highly accurate images, essential for designing safer and more effective cancer treatments. According to information from the institution, its use will make it possible to optimize the care of children and adolescents with cancer from all over the country.
The CNEA advances with the national nuclear medicine program
The incorporation of the tomosimulator is part of the creation of a new radiotherapy area within the hospital, a development promoted by the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA). This initiative aims to strengthen the treatment of childhood cancer by integrating state-of-the-art technology.
The new equipment allows a better location of tumors and a more precise planning of radiation therapy, reducing the impact on healthy tissues. This translates into safer treatments with fewer side effects, raising children's hospital standards of care.
