A recent investigation published by Chequeado exposed the existence of a Russian government disinformation network that seeks to influence Argentine public opinion and attack the Government of Javier Milei.
However, this situation is not new. The libertarian administration, through the State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE), had already discovered these operations in 2025
.
During June of last year, SIDE identified a group of Russian citizens living in the country who were operating in coordination with local collaborators in activities aligned with Russian geopolitical interests.
The official investigation determined that these actions were part of an organized structure known as “The Company”, linked to the so-called “Lahkta Project”, previously promoted by the Russian oligarch Yevgeniy Prigozhin.
Presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni confirmed at the time that the leader of this organization in Argentina was Lev Konstantinovich Andriashvili, a Russian citizen who resided in the country with his wife Irina Iakovenko.
Both had received funding to build a network of local links with the objective of deploying disinformation operations
.
The SIDE investigation established that this structure was intended to form a group of people loyal to Russian interests to carry out campaigns directed against the Argentine State and the Government of Milei.
These maneuvers included the production and dissemination of fake news on social networks and media, interference with civil organizations, foundations and NGOs, and the holding of focus groups to measure the impact of the messages.
President Javier Milei and Vladimir Putin.
In this context, the research that came to light today detected at least 250 publications, including fake news, analysis and opinion columns, released between June and October 2024 on more than 20 websites, with an estimated budget of
283 thousand dollars.
In addition, it was found that the organization was making progress in collecting sensitive information that could be used for the benefit of foreign interests. The national Government indicated that these activities constituted a direct threat to the country's security and sovereignty
.
In this sense, Milei's management not only identified these operations in time, but also exposed the operation of a network that sought to influence Argentine politics.
