The transaction entered a decisive phase after the receipt of three offers for 50% of the share package of Citelec S.A., the company's parent company, currently in State hands, for a sum of USD 887 million.
The Minister of Economy, Luis “Toto” Caputo, confirmed the progress of the process through social networks. “The privatization of Transener is entering its final phase. The National State received offers from three companies for the sale of 100% of their shareholding in CITELEC S.A., Transener's parent company,” he announced
. President Javier Milei.
And he highlighted: "The offers presented reflect the interest of the private sector in investing in infrastructure essential for the operation of the Argentine electricity system
.”
The company plays a central role in the national energy system. Transener manages the infrastructure of the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI), with more than 12,400 kilometers of transmission lines, in addition to the 6,228 kilometers of its subsidiary Transba S.A., responsible for energy transport in the province of Buenos Aires
.
The process is part of the privatization of Energía Argentina S.A. (ENARSA), established in Decree 286/2025, which provides for the sale of the shares that the state company holds in Citelec. In turn, the initiative is articulated with the official strategy of transferring investment in energy infrastructure to the private sector
. President Javier Milei.
In this instance, three economic groups submitted offers to remain in control of the carrier, all with a strong presence in the local market.
These are Genneia, Central Puerto and Edenor.
With the receipt of offers, Transener's privatization process enters a decisive phase, in which the Government seeks to transfer to the private sector the management of a key infrastructure for the operation of the Argentine electricity system, improving management and encouraging investments without relying on public funds.
