Silvia Nancy González, a 56-year-old member of IOMA, died last Thursday, April 30 after going through a series of delays, failed referrals and serious failures in medical care after having a heart attack.
The case occurred in Mar del Plata and led to a public complaint by his family, demanding that what happened be investigated.
This is not an isolated event, since thousands of people have been complaining about the terrible quality of the social work managed by the Government of Axel Kicillof, which abandons its members, leaves them without attention and does not provide answers.
Axel Kicillof.
The tragedy
It all began on Monday, April 27, when Silvia was transferred to the General Interzonal Acute Hospital because she had heart problems. There, he received initial care and medical studies, but when it was determined that he needed a coronary unit, the main obstacle arose: there were no beds available in the hospital
.
Faced with this situation, the IOMA social work offered a referral to Berisso, more than 350 kilometers away. The family initially rejected that option with the expectation of getting a bed in the city, but when they finally accepted the transfer, the availability no longer existed
.
In this context, Silvia was referred to the Avenida Sanatorium. According to the complaint of his relatives, the place did not have the necessary complexity to treat his painting.
There, they described poor care, lack of monitoring, scarce medical presence and treatment that they described as “dehumanized”.
On Wednesday, the patient's state of health worsened. The family indicated that they had to pay in a private way for an ecodoppler and an ambulance. That same day, her daughter claimed to have found her in critical condition, without monitoring, without tubes placed and with blood on her hands and clothes, as a result of lack of attention
. The call to seek justice.
Faced with this picture, an urgent referral was once again managed. The availability of a bed in Berisso was reported, but the transfer was suspended because it was considered risky, after the patient was intubated without this information being communicated to the destination center. The next day, when an ambulance arrived, the bed had already been occupied
.
In parallel, Silvia's daughter made complaints at the IOMA headquarters located on Avenida Independencia at 2700. Amid a lack of answers, he suffered an epileptic seizure on the spot.
According to the complaint, the answer was to transfer her to the same Avenida Sanatorium, from which she was trying to remove her mother urgently.
Finally, Silvia was transferred to a clinic in La Plata. However, shortly after his admission, the family received the most serious news: he died that same Thursday, April 30.
After what happened, the family held the Government of Axel Kicillof, IOMA, the Interzonal Hospital, the Avenida Sanatorium and the transfer system responsible for a chain of decisions and failures that ended up causing the death of the woman.
“My mother died alone, far from home,” her daughter said in a public complaint seeking to investigate the case and not to repeat itself.
The case generated shock and led to the call for a mobilization for Wednesday, May 13 in Mar del Plata, with the objective of making what happened visible and demanding answers.
