The Córdoba Police formally summoned Sergio Maldonado, the drowned picketeer brother Santiago Maldonado, after he posted videos on social networks with cries and insults against an officer, where he reported without evidence an alleged irregular action by the Road Police after a vehicle control.

The episode originated in early April, when Maldonado was arrested at a checkpoint on Route 9, near Rio Segundo. According to the official record, the reason for the violation was the lack of use of a seat belt by one of the occupants of the vehicle, which led to the drafting of a fine

In an unusual measure, the head of the force, Marcelo Marín, sent a document letter demanding a public rectification within 48 hours. The official document maintains that the statements released by Maldonado contain inaccurate and offensive expressions that affect the honor of the personnel involved and the institutional prestige. The subpoena requests the immediate cessation of new publications about the fact, the elimination of content already disseminated on social networks and a public rectification accompanied by formal apology, using the same channels and with equivalent reach. The provincial government supported the measure and questioned the attitude of the leftist. Minister Quinteros said that a routine check cannot turn into a campaign to discredit the Police and warned that the dissemination of accusations without evidence against force will not be tolerated
