The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intensified their offensive against the terrorist group Hezbollah on Tuesday by destroying six infrastructures used to plan and execute attacks against Israeli civilians and troops deployed on the northern border. At the same time, the Israeli military leadership issued one of its strongest warnings against Tehran, stating that the recent attack on Iran was merely a precursor to a much more powerful operation.

The IDF struck key Hezbollah infrastructure

According to the Israeli Army, airstrikes were carried out against various terrorist targets located in Tyre and other areas of southern Lebanon during the last day.

In Tyre, Israeli forces destroyed six infrastructures used by Hezbollah to coordinate military operations, including a site used for launching explosive drones against Israeli soldiers.

Additionally, the attacks targeted:

  • Launchers of projectiles loaded and ready to fire.

  • Infrastructures used by terrorist cells.

  • Hezbollah fighters detected in operational areas.

  • Positions used to harass Israeli forces deployed on the border.

Israel claims that these facilities represented an immediate threat to the safety of its citizens and military personnel stationed in the northern part of the country.

Israel threatens a much harsher blow against Iran

In parallel to the operations in Lebanon, the head of the Israeli General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, made it clear that Israel does not consider the front with Tehran closed.

"The attack we carried out in Iran was a preparation for a much more significant and powerful blow. We are prepared to return and deliver another severe and far-reaching attack against Iran", he stated during a visit to a military training center.

This is the most explicit warning made so far by the highest military authority in Israel since the recent regional escalation.

Zamir also confirmed that operations against Hezbollah will continue as long as the terrorist threat persists in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah was using underground facilities

The Israeli commander specifically referred to operations in the area of Beaufort, where troops continue to dismantle strategic structures of the Shiite group.

He explained that soldiers are destroying "a significant underground facility that Hezbollah was using as a firing base and command center to direct combat operations".

Israel maintains that Hezbollah retains significant offensive capabilities despite the blows received in recent months and accuses the group of repeatedly violating ceasefire agreements.

A truce that never solidified

The current escalation occurred after Iran used the Israeli attacks on the suburbs of southern Beirut as justification to launch missiles against Israeli territory.

Israel responded with new airstrikes, triggering a chain of confrontations that only stopped after the intervention of U.S. President Donald Trump, who publicly called for both sides to cease fire.

However, the initial calls from Washington were ignored.

Israel carried out new military operations, Tehran responded with a second wave of attacks, and regional tension escalated again.

Hezbollah continues attacking despite the ceasefire

The United States is simultaneously pushing for nuclear negotiations with Iran and diplomatic efforts to solidify a truce on the Lebanese front.

On June 3, Israel and Lebanon reached a conditional ceasefire in Washington that included:

  • The cessation of Hezbollah's attacks.

  • The withdrawal of its fighters to the north of the Litani River.

  • A new round of negotiations scheduled for June 22.

However, the agreement never stabilized the situation.

Israel continues its military operations in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah continues launching projectiles and drones against Israeli positions and communities in the northern part of the country.

The current phase of the conflict began on March 2, when Hezbollah resumed its attacks following the Israeli bombings on February 28 against Iranian targets.

Since then, southern Lebanon has once again become one of the main hotspots of instability in the Middle East, while Israel makes it increasingly clear that, if deemed necessary, it is willing to reopen the front against the Iranian regime with full force.
