Noelia Castillo Ramos, a 25-year-old Spanish girl who was left with irreversible paraplegia after throwing herself out of a building after being the victim of gang rape in a juvenile center, will agree to euthanasia this Thursday, March 26, after months of legal disputes and a prolonged picture of physical and emotional suffering.
His story generated controversy in Spain because of the role of the State in this whole process, questioned for not having guaranteed his protection at critical moments in his life, but which finally enabled the process to end his existence.
Noelia was born in a complex family environment, beset by psychological problems and addictions from her parents. This situation meant that he spent a large part of his childhood and adolescence in juvenile centers, without achieving stability that would allow him to develop under adequate
conditions. It was precisely in one of those centers where, in 2022, he suffered multiple sexual assault, a fact that marked a definitive breaking point. After that episode, on October 4 of that same year, the young woman threw herself from the fifth floor of a building in a suicide attempt
.
Although it survived, the consequences were devastating. As a result of the fall, she was left with complete irreversible paraplegia, leaving her bedridden in a wheelchair
