A group of national deputies from La Libertad Avanza filed a criminal complaint against Marcela Pagano for alleged crimes related to her property situation and the exercise of public office since her arrival in Congress.
The presentation was filed before the Federal Criminal and Correctional Courts, with the objective of allowing the Justice to investigate whether there were maneuvers compatible with illicit enrichment, malicious omission in the affidavit of assets and fraudulent administration, among other criminal acts.
Marcela Pagano. The accusation is signed by legislators from the libertarian bloc, including María Celeste Ponce, Carlos Zapata, MaríaSoledad Mondaca, Jairo Guzmán, Sergio Figliuolo, Lilia Lemoine, Andrea Fernanda Vera, Valentina Loana Ravera, Miguel Rodríguez, Eliana Bruno, Andrés Leone, Atilio Basualdo, Santiago Santurio and
Maria Cecilia Ibanez
.
According to the judicial brief, the events reported could constitute crimes against the National Public Administration and would have taken place since Pagano took office as a national deputy, on December 10, 2023.
The approach focuses on possible irregularities related to her financial affidavits and to the evolution of her assets during her tenure as a public servant. For the complainants, these elements merit the intervention of the Federal Justice to determine if there were behaviors incompatible with
the charge.
The complaint was filed under the legal sponsorship of lawyer Hernán Emilio Seivane, who intervened on behalf of the signatory deputies. In the document, the legislators requested that the facts be investigated under federal jurisdiction and established a procedural address in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires
. Marcela Pagano with the deputy of “Los Patitos”.
In addition to the alleged illicit enrichment, the deputies incorporated the concept of malicious omission, linked to the possible lack of information or falsehood in property declarations, and fraudulent administration, which expands the scope of the presentation to possible maneuvers that
could have affected public resources.
The case opens a new chapter in the internal politics that is going through Congress and leaves Pagano, the deputy who betrayed La Libertad Avanza and unexpectedly aligned herself with Kirchnerism, under judicial scrutiny. Now, it will be the Federal Justice that must analyze the complaint, evaluate the documentation submitted and define if there are sufficient elements to move forward with a formal investigation.
