NASA presented a historic project. It seeks to make 73 moon landings to establish a permanent human presence on
the Moon. The plan is part of the Artemis program. It aims to consolidate a lunar base and prepare for future missions to Mars.
A three-phase plan to lead the space race The
strategy envisages three stages. In total, it includes 73 landings and an estimated investment of USD 20 billion
.The first phase foresees 21 moon landings until 2029. It will focus on robotic missions and initial tests
.The second phase, between 2029 and 2032, will total 24 landings. It will include the dispatch of infrastructure and the start of manned missions
.
The third stage includes 28 additional moon landings. The goal is to achieve a continuous human presence since 2032
.The lunar south pole, strategic key
The base will be installed at the Moon's south pole. This area is key because of its potential in resources, especially hydrogen.
However, the environment presents challenges. Low sunlight and extreme temperatures make it difficult to generate energy
.To solve it, NASA is evaluating the use of nuclear energy. It also analyzes new technologies to ensure the survival of astronauts.
