In a historic turn of foreign and defense policy, Argentina has been designated to lead elite operations in the PANAMAX 2026 exercise, consolidating an unbreakable strategic alliance with the United States and the powers of the free world to safeguard the most critical asset of global trade. Panama will become, between July 6 and August 14, the epicenter of continental security with the realization of PANAMAX 2026. This multinational exercise, the most important in the Western Hemisphere, will bring together more than 12 allied countries and approximately 1,500 members of security institutions.
The operation marks a milestone of sovereignty and efficiency, being a return to in-person activities after more than a decade of virtual exercises, as confirmed by the acting Undersecretary of Public Security, Luis Felipe Icaza: “The last in-person edition was in 2012. After several years, we are returning to the physical exercise as such”.

Under the firm leadership of the Government of Javier Milei and the strategic management of Defense Minister Carlos Presti, Argentina takes on an unprecedented leading role by commanding the Combined Joint Special Operations Component (CFSOCC). The Joint Special Operations Command (CCOE) of the Argentine Armed Forces will have the utmost responsibility for operational planning, coordinating elite teams from the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force in high-complexity maneuvers.
