Hours before the transfer market closed, the Mexican club changed the conditions of its proposal and was close to finalizing the arrival of the midfielder
While Bocais focused on the match against Vélez in the round of 16 of theCopa Argentina, the transfer market could still generate an important movement in the squad. Kevin Zenón could leave the club in the coming hours and continue his career in Mexico, after Atlas moved forward with a new proposal for the midfielder.
The team led by Hernán Crespo has been following the player for several weeks and, after receiving a rejection for their first offer, decided to modify the terms of the operation. Initially, the Mexican club intended to sign him on loan with an option to buy, an alternative that did not convince Boca's management.
The Xeneize's stance had been clear: to part with Zenón, they were looking for a definitive sale or, alternatively, a loan accompanied by a purchase obligation. The Rojinegros agreed to proceed under those terms, and discussions between both parties gained new momentum.
The Atlas of Mexico wants Kevin Zenón
Although negotiations are underway, Boca is still waiting to receive the final written proposal before giving the green light. At the same time, Atlas will need to resolve the release of a foreign player slot to complete the signing.
Zenón arrived at Boca in January 2024 from Unión. The club from the Ribera invested 3.5 million dollars for 80% of his economic rights, while the Santa Fe institution retains the remaining 20%. For this reason, any potential transfer must also consider Unión's participation.
The departure of the midfielder would occur in a particular context. Despite being considered one of the players who could regain prominence within the squad, Rodolfo Arruabarrena barely used him during this period: he accumulated a handful of minutes spread over 6 matches.
Zenón has had little playing time so far with Arruabarrena
It is worth noting that Atlas's interest is not the first the player has received. In August 2025, Olympiakos made an offer of 7 million dollars for 80% of the rights that belong to Boca, but the parties did not reach an agreement. Earlier, there had also been inquiries from Hoffenheim, Alavés, and São Paulo.
Now, with the closing of the market approaching, the Mexican team appears as the concrete option for Zenón. The outcome will depend on the presentation of the new offer and whether Atlas can free up the necessary slot to proceed with the operation.
Zenón's numbers at Boca
Since his arrival at the Xeneize in early 2024, the native of Goya has played 5,398 minutes, distributed over 90 matches, in which he scored 10 goals, provided 8 assists, and received 6 yellow cards and 1 red card.
