Rumors about a possible departure of Beto Casella from Canal 9 have gained momentum in recent weeks. After two decades at the helm of Bendita, the host decided to break his silence and clarify his current situation with the network, while also confirming meetings with other networks and producers.
In an interview with Carlos Monti on TV Pública, Casella hinted that his continuity at the channel is in doubt: "If I were to move to another channel, there might be a separation after 20 years. It would be painful, but it's also part of the rules of the television game." Although he downplayed the situation, he admitted that he had meetings with various industry figures, which set off the alarm within the channel.
True to his style, Beto tried to downplay the drama, but his words made it clear that the relationship with Canal 9 is going through one of its most fragile moments. "I met with all the channels and the production companies that work within the channels with their own shows. Nothing that doesn't happen every year in August and September," he explained.
Beto Casella estaría cansado de Canal 9
However, he also offered a self-critique in an ironic tone: "I don't understand why there's so much eagerness to take a little show that, for me, is still modest. With the channel, we're like a marriage that no longer touches each other."
Currently, Casella has a contract in force until 2027, but he acknowledged that his stay is not guaranteed: "Many times I pretended, I ended up staying, and it's already been 20 years. A lot of talk, but maybe in February or March I'm starting over here."
What seems to have further strained the relationship was the channel's lack of response to his complaints. "There's no offer from the channel. I conveyed my discomfort with some things and the possibility of moving, and, going back to the marriage analogy, it's like when you say 'one of these days I'm leaving here' and from the kitchen they kind of say 'leave if you want,'" he concluded.
El principal problema sería la aparición de Tamara Pettinato
Meanwhile, as uncertainty grows, more details have begun to emerge from other media outlets about the internal issues between Casella and Canal 9. According to Marina Calabró on LAM Club Social Informativo (América TV), the host is in the midst of negotiations with other networks: "He's the most sought-after man on television. He's in the middle of a round of meetings."
The journalist pointed out that the differences with the channel intensified after the hiring of Tamara Pettinato, a decision that Beto reportedly felt was a provocation. "Beto's issue is strict discomfort with the channel; relations with management are broken," she stated.
Among the alternatives Casella is considering are América TV and El Trece. Calabró detailed that the host has already met with key figures such as Pablo Codevilla and Adrián Suar (El Trece), Diego Guebel (Boxfish), as well as the production company Mandarina and Fede Levrino from Telefe. There may even have been an approach with Juan Cruz Ávila, director of La Nación+.
