San Lorenzo is once again in the eye of the storm, this time due to a scandal directly involving its president, Marcelo Moretti, who was caught receiving "black money" from the mother of a young footballer from the youth divisions in order to "sign him".
The complaint was publicly broadcast by Canal 9, which released both audio and images from a hidden camera recording the conversation between the president of the Ciclón and the player's mother, to whom he requested USD 25,000 for the club to sign the youth's first contract.
For a year, rumors circulated within the club about an alleged video implicating the president in a case of receiving black money to finalize a signing. Finally, this Monday the material was broadcast on the program TLNdenuncia, hosted by Tomás Méndez on Canal 9.
"Speak as if it were a business," were Moretti's first words during the meeting with the woman, who spoke to him about the amount she had to "invest" for her son to be part of the team. The president left no room for doubt by confirming: "USD 25,000 or 30,000", according to the program's audio revelations.
Although the mother tried to agree on a payment in two installments, Moretti was clear: "The sooner, the better…". The conversation ended with a blunt statement: "I'll give you the 25,000, but sign the kid".
The moment they met and Moretti received the money
The evidence includes not only the phone recordings but also images of the moment Moretti met with the player's mother. According to the video broadcast by TNLdenuncia, the meetings took place in an office where the official received the agreed dollars.
