River accelerated efforts to incorporate Thiago Almada, the attacking midfielder requested by Eduardo Coudet to enhance the final third of the team. The club has reportedly reached a preliminary contractual agreement with the player and is willing to match the salary he receives at Atlético de Madrid.
According to Daniel Cacioli in Dsports, Almada could become “by far” the highest-paid player in Argentine football. The agreement between the parties would include a record contract, although the transfer is not yet fully finalized.
The condition that keeps the transfer in suspense
River has made progress in talks with Atlético de Madrid. However, the operation depends on whether a proposal from a top European club does not arise, in which case the Millonario would have little chance of competing.
