The strong pace of Argentine exports of corn caused a significant increase in activity at the port terminals of Gran Rosario on Tuesday, where 4,258 trucks entered, 37.6% more than the previous day and 23% above the comparable record from 2025.

The cereal was the main protagonist of the movement. According to data from AgroEntregas for August 25, 2,232 trucks were transporting corn, accounting for more than 52% of the total. Another 1,484 vehicles carried soybeans, 417 wheat, 58 sunflower, 57 sorghum, and ten barley, while the estimated total load reached 136,256 tons.

The increased activity was particularly evident at a Bunge terminal located in Puerto General San Martín, where long lines of trucks formed waiting to unload the cereal.

The growth is also significant compared to previous years. On a comparable date in 2025, 3,454 vehicles had entered, while in 2024 there were 2,739. Consequently, the current movement is 23% above last year and 55% above 2024.

The most pronounced jump occurred in corn, where the acceleration coincides with an exceptional campaign. The 2,232 trucks counted on Tuesday represent an increase of 142% compared to the 922 recorded a year ago. The Rosario Stock Exchange projected a production of 70.5 million tons of corn, which would constitute a record.

Additionally, the sworn export sales declarations for the cereal with shipments planned for August reached 6.51 million tons by the 24th of this month, while for September another 3.51 million were already recorded.

Experts pointed out that Argentine corn has achieved strong diversification of destinations and currently reaches markets in South America, Asia, Southeast Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East, with significant buyers such as Vietnam, Malaysia, Libya, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia.

Javier Preciado Patiño, director of RIA Consultores, particularly highlighted the competitiveness achieved in North Africa, a region traditionally supplied also from Black Sea countries.

For his part, Gustavo Idígoras, president of Ciara-CEC, stated that international tensions and logistical problems affecting major suppliers open opportunities for Argentina to gain market share as a reliable food supplier.

The strong commercial pace is also reflected in the purchases made by exporters. According to Gustavo López, president of Agritrend, the sector has already acquired around 35 million tons of corn from the current campaign, while the total potential shipments could range between 43 and 45 million tons.

With a record harvest, advanced marketing, and diversified external demand, the increase in movement at the ports of Gran Rosario begins to show the magnitude of the Argentine export campaign in logistical terms.
