The main novelty introduced by Festival Brillante is the arrival of shiny Pokémon

Pokémon TCG Pocket, the popular card game for mobile devices, announced the release of its next miniset called Shining Festival. This new expansion will be available starting March 27, 2025, and promises to incorporate shiny Pokémon and various iconic creatures from the Paldea region, which will significantly renew the metagame and available strategies.

With the release of Shining Festival, the digital card franchise continues to expand its offering, adding content that targets both competitive players and collection enthusiasts. Below, we share all the confirmed details so far about this expansion.

What Shining Festival brings to the Pokémon TCG Pocket universe

The main novelty introduced by Shining Festival is the arrival of shiny Pokémon, appearing for the first time in Pokémon TCG Pocket. These Pokémon not only differ from their normal versions by the color change, but in many cases, they present new moves and abilities, functioning as retrainers of already known cards.

Among the highlighted cards are Charizard ex shiny and Lucario ex shiny, both with attacks that distinguish them from their previous versions. Additionally, the shiny Pokémon in this set debut an exclusive rarity, adding an extra incentive for collectors.

New Pokémon and trainers in the miniset

Shining Festival is a minor expansion within the Pokémon TCG Pocket release calendar and has been classified as A2b, similar to other minisets like Triumphant Light or The Singular Island. However, it offers varied content that promises to influence the game's development.

Among the new confirmed Pokémon are:

  • Charizard ex shiny
  • Lucario ex shiny
  • Wiglett
  • Pachirisu
  • Varoom

The Paldea starters are also added: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, thus expanding the representation of the ninth generation of games in the digital TCG.

Regarding Supporter cards, the appearances of Red and e-Nigma were highlighted, two characters that strengthen the link between the card game and the classic Pokémon installments.

Ex starter deck missions

Another important announcement of this expansion is the arrival of ex starter deck missions, which will be available from March 28, 2025, at 6:00 AM UTC until April 27, 2025, at 5:59 AM UTC.

These missions will allow players to learn to use different themed decks, each with an ex Pokémon as the flagship card. Participating in these missions will provide access to XP, resources, and coupons that can be redeemed for one of the nine available starter decks. This is a key step to understanding the new competitive environment and familiarizing oneself with the newly incorporated cards.

The impact of Shining Festival on the Pokémon TCG Pocket metagame

The release of Shining Festival confirms Pokémon TCG Pocket's strategy of making monthly updates to keep its active community interested. The arrival of new Pokémon, exclusive cards, and mechanics offers new possibilities for building competitive decks, renewing the metagame at all levels.

Additionally, collectors have reasons to be excited about the introduction of shiny Pokémon, which add value and rarity to the game's digital collections.

It remains to be seen what the real impact of this expansion will be on the competitive balance of Pokémon TCG Pocket, but everything points to Shining Festival positioning itself as one of the most relevant updates of this first half of 2025.
