The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, defended the Government's economic direction and focused on a specific case: Lumilagro. As he explained, the firm represents the right path in the face of a new competition scenario.
During his presentation at the AmCham Summit 2026, Caputo argued that “reality is heterogeneous” and that not all companies react the same to changes. In that regard, he stressed that the difference is in the ability to adapt.
Lumilagro: investment, competition and growth
Caputo highlighted that Lumilagro faced the arrival of new international competitors, such as Stanley thermos, without retracting. On the contrary, the company decided to invest, improve its products and increase its competitiveness.
As explained by the minister, this strategy allowed the company to achieve sales records and expand in exports. The case, he said, demonstrates that competition benefits both companies that adapt and consumers
.
“The result is a better product at a lower price,” Caputo said. For the civil servant, that is the direct effect of a more open and competitive market.
Fate, the contrast marked by Caputo As a counterface, the minister mentioned the case
of Fate. According to him, the company chose to close in the face of economic openness and international competition

The message was clear: the economic model does not guarantee equal results for everyone, but it does create incentives for those who decide to compete and innovate.
Reconversion and structural change in the economy The

Economic projection and message to the private sector
At the macroeconomic level, Caputo projected an optimistic scenario. He said that inflation will begin to slow down and anticipated that “the next 18 months will probably be the best in recent decades
.”
In addition, he highlighted the leadership of President Javier Milei as a key factor in attracting investment and positioning the country in the world.
The closing of the speech was aimed at the business community. Caputo urged them to leave behind negative expectations and join the process of economic transformation. As he said, growth will depend on the decision to adapt and compete, just as Lumilagro did
