Over the weekend, an anonymous account on social media became the center of attention after a series of critical messages against various national officials went viral, particularly targeting advisor Santiago Caputo and even the economic plan of President Javier Milei.

The profile, identified as @PeriodistaRufus, was deleted hours after Caputo himself revealed that the account had allegedly been used by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Menem, because one of the Instagram links he posted contained an automatic content preview generated by Meta's social network, known as a “share sheet,” indicating that the post, which was directed against presidential advisor Santiago Caputo, had originally been shared from the verified Instagram account of Martín Menem (@martinmenemok).

The profile, which operated anonymously, had been posting various messages with opinions and questions directed at figures in the national government for some time.

From that moment on, multiple users on social media began to widely link the profile to the President of the Chamber of Deputies, and various users started to spread screenshots of posts made by the controversial account.

In parallel to the dissemination of these versions, the account was mysteriously deleted from the platform. Prior to its closure, posts from the account attacking various officials such as Santiago Caputo, Luis Caputo, Patricia Bullrich, Sandra Pettovello, and even President Milei, among others, were circulated.

The account's posts against the Government

Among the content that was later shared by various users, posts directed at the presidential advisor stood out. In one of the messages shared, the account stated: “Tell me you want to feel important while you're in free fall, Santiago Caputo. You are the biggest failure the president carries. You have little time left...".

Another post, directed against the president, claimed that he “didn't dare” to confront the governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, the ultra-Kirchnerist Axel Kicillof.

Additionally, posts related to the Minister of Economy circulated. In one of the posts, the profile expressed: "We should ask Toto Caputo and his nephews if the Neuss family is going to keep a percentage of all the companies and concessions of the republic", referring to the privatization of Transener.

Another interaction that went viral was a “like” from the account on a message that stated: "The bad thing about Milei's government is the economy, which is a disaster. The most redeemable thing is the politics", a strong criticism of the economic team led by Milei himself.

Amid all the attacks, however, the account openly supported Martín Menem's management: “This account celebrates and strongly supports Mr. Martín Menem's masterstroke,” it stated, adding: “He has cunning and audacity in his blood. His father must be more than proud.”

The profile also referenced the female officials of the Government. In one post, citing an image of Sandra Pettovello and Patricia Bullrich during a trip, the user wrote: "The joke of traveling like a poor underdeveloped Tucumano is over. Now we travel premium because we can", in an ironic tone because they were on a military plane and not on a commercial flight.

Preview of high-impact announcements

In addition to the critical messages, some posts drew attention for including references to high-impact political decisions that very few people in the Government knew before their official announcement.

In February, the account had posted only the initials "JBM", in a context of speculation about changes in the Ministry of Justice. Weeks later, the appointment of Juan Bautista Mahiques (JBM) to that position was confirmed.

In the same vein, another message that circulated indicated: "Post-elections Francos leaves, Martín Menem enters, save this tweet", referring to possible changes in the Chief of Cabinet.

After that prediction was partially realized, as Manuel Adorni ended up replacing Francos, a subsequent post was also circulated with the phrase: "I pay to see when they silence Adorni".

After the account was deleted, dozens of screenshots of its posts were shared on social media, in addition to links saved in Web Archive, the site that allows viewing even deleted posts, which enabled reconstructing part of its activity. Collectively, the messages showed strong criticisms of various officials and decisions of the Government.

So far, there has been no official confirmation regarding the authorship of the profile nor a public response from the accused. The attribution to Martín Menem arose from evidence circulated on social media, in an episode that had wide digital repercussions over the weekend and gained media relevance on all radio and television programs this Monday.
