The CGT made the decision to take a new step toward confrontation with Javier Milei's government
The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) decided to take a new step toward confrontation with the Government of Javier Milei, announcing a 24-hour general strike, scheduled for before April 10.
The confirmation came from Héctor Daer, co-head of the CGT and a leader in Healthcare, during his speech at the national congress of the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (UTEP), held at the headquarters of the labor central.
At the event, which brought together the main union leaders, including Hugo Moyano from Truckers, there was a perceived discourse of increasing violence and a rejection of the national Government, in light of the successful economic management of La Libertad Avanza.
The harmful measure of force, which still needs to be discussed at the CGT's Executive Council meeting next Thursday, will be subsequently endorsed at a plenary of regional delegations.

The reasons for this decision, according to Daer, lie in the rejection of the policies of Javier Milei's Government, whom he accused of "ignoring social dialogue" and "attacking workers' rights."
In particular, he referred to Milei's statements at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where the president expressed the need to reduce state intervention in the economy. "This Government doesn't believe in dialogue, it doesn't talk to anyone," stated Daer, who is angry at not being able to extort the current government.
The decision to proceed with the general strike arises in a context of growing unrest within the CGT. Although the small committee had agreed on a gradual plan of forceful measures, the recent disturbances in the Congress area, where clashes with Kirchnerist hooligans and leftist terrorists were recorded, accelerated the determination of the labor central.

In fact, some more moderate sectors of the CGT, such as Gerardo Martínez (UOCRA), have expressed their concern about the speed with which decisions are being made, suggesting that it would be preferable to wait for a more opportune moment to negotiate with the Government.
During his speech, Daer also criticized Milei's Government for having saved the country through successful public spending adjustment policies.
Thus, the announcement of the violent general strike not only marks a new confrontation with the libertarian administration but also reflects the internal tensions within the CGT, where the more dialogue-oriented factions attempt to moderate the course, while other sectors are betting on an open confrontation with the Casa Rosada.
