The countdown to the definition of the 2026 World Cup has already begun, and one of the first to ignite the prelude was Iker Casillas. The former goalkeeper of Real Madrid and the Spanish national team posted a message on social media expressing his confidence that Spain will be crowned champion against the Argentine National Team.
With a strong statement, Casillas made his position clear: "There will not be a fourth star, Argentina. Let's go for the second! Let's go!", referring to the Spanish team's goal of conquering their second world title.
The Albiceleste will reach the final after a historic comeback against England in the semifinals, a result that allowed them to stay in the fight for the world championship after the title obtained in Qatar 2022.
Lionel Scaloni's team will also try to achieve the fourth World Cup in its history, while facing a Spanish team that has been one of the great protagonists of the tournament and will seek to repeat the conquest achieved in South Africa 2010.
This is not the first time Casillas has questioned the performance of the Argentine national team during this World Cup.
Before the semifinal against England, the historic goalkeeper had expressed that he expected a more solid version of the reigning champion and assured that the team arrived with more results than functioning.
"Argentina looks tired and without arguments. I expected much more. I haven't seen another team among the semifinalists that has achieved so much showing so little," he had stated in remarks prior to the match.
