Ezequiel “Chimy” Ávila is getting closer to becoming a player for Independiente. The forward has already undergone a medical examination and, while awaiting the formalization of his arrival, spoke about his choice of the Rojo and the alternatives he had during the transfer market.
The attacker acknowledged that he received proposals and interest from various institutions in Argentine football, including Boca and Rosario Central, but ultimately opted for the team from Avellaneda.
"I am grateful that teams like Boca, Central, and many others showed interest in me. It’s something very nice and it means that when I was in another country, I did well," Ávila expressed.
Chimy Ávila and his decision to play for Independiente
The forward explained that the choice of Independiente was analyzed with the people closest to him and was not determined solely by sporting reasons.
"One never weighs those things, but rather what it is to be at peace. Just as it could have been Independiente, it could have been another. It was a joint effort with my family, with my representative, all together," he stated.
In this way, Ávila is preparing to face a new stage in Argentine football after his journey abroad, where he wore the jerseys of different teams and established himself as a forward with character and personality.
The adaptation and the positions he can occupy
Another aspect that the future reinforcement of Independiente highlighted was his ability to adapt to the coach's needs. The forward assured that he is willing to perform in different areas of the attack if the team requires it.
"One always has to be prepared for wherever they are needed. Matches are day by day, and you might start playing in one position and then in another," he explained.
His versatility could become an important tool for the new coaching staff of the Rojo, which is looking to shape a competitive squad after a week marked by changes.
