Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro received medical care for a mild traumatic brain injury after suffering a fall in the prison where he is serving his sentence in Brasília, an episode that once again raised alarms about his health condition and the conditions of his imprisonment.
According to confirmations from his medical team and his defense, the incident occurred after Bolsonaro suffered a seizure while he was sleeping, which caused him to hit his head against a piece of furniture in the cell.
After the episode, the former president's lawyers urgently requested that the Supreme Federal Court (STF) speed up the procedures necessary for his transfer to a hospital, warning of a "concrete and immediate risk" to his health.
In the court filing, the defense argued that, given Bolsonaro's recent clinical situation and the type of injury he suffered, it was essential to carry out complete medical tests, including clinical exams and imaging, under specialized supervision and with police custody.

Bolsonaro's personal physician, Cláudio Birolini, confirmed that the former president had to be transferred to the DF Star hospital in Brasília for a thorough evaluation. Birolini explained that falls represent a significant cause for concern in Bolsonaro's case due to his medical history, and he pointed out that the health team had already warned about the risk of similar episodes, considering the patient's clinical evolution and his recent medical history.
The former president's family spoke out publicly. Carlos Bolsonaro, the former president's son and former councilman, recounted that he found his father "in pain, with bruises on his face and bleeding on his feet" after the fall.
He also expressed concern about the time it took to authorize the hospital transfer and questioned the delay in the initial medical care. In addition, the Superior Court of Justice denied the former president's request for hospitalization despite his delicate health condition.
