Yael Trepy, French forward of Cagliari, suffered an accident in a pool during his vacation in Sardinia and remains in intensive care due to a significant accumulation of fluid in his lungs
Italian football is in shock over the health condition of Yael Trepy. The 20-year-old French forward from Cagliarisuffered an accident in a pool during his vacation inSardinia and is hospitalized in serious condition at the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, at a villa in Porto Cervo, on the Emerald Coast. According to initial reports, Trepy ended up in the deepest area, where he had difficulty staying afloat and suffered the onset of drowning.
At the moment, the exact circumstances of the accident are still under evaluation and there are various hypotheses about what happened. One line of investigation suggests that the footballer may have experienced some type of sudden discomfort in the water that prevented him from reacting and returning to the surface on his own. The other hypothesis points to an accident related to the lack of swimming experience and the change in pool depth, which could have caused Trepy to struggle to stay afloat.

After the incident, he was rescued and urgently transported by helicopter to the medical center. Subsequent tests determined that the footballer had a significant accumulation of fluid in his lungs, which complicates oxygen exchange. Given this situation, the doctors decided to intubate him and keep him in induced coma, under constant monitoring in the intensive care unit.
Shortly after, Cagliari confirmed the hospitalization and stated that they remain in constant contact with both the hospital and the player's family. "At this time, Cagliari Calcio stands by Yael and his family in their feelings. The Club requests that their privacy be respected and will provide any updates as soon as they are available", the institution reported. Additionally, the club publicly expressed its support for the forward through its social media: "Stay strong, Yael, we are all with you!".
The accident occurred during the rest days that the team had received after the first official commitment of the season (victory 1-0 against Arezzo in the Serie B for the 32nd round of the Coppa Italia), before resuming training in preparation for the start of the Serie A season. Meanwhile, teammates, family, and the entire Cagliari community await news on the young forward's progress.
