Colombia is going through hours of deep concern after the devastating earthquake that struck various regions of the country. In response to the event, many sectors have come together to show solidarity with the numerous affected families, and the world of football was no exception. This Thursday, the CONMEBOL and the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) announced a joint donation of one million dollars to assist in the recovery of the affected areas.

The financial contribution will be channeled through the campaign "Colombia, one heart,” a initiative led by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Lucía Pineda, which aims to gather resources to assist the most affected communities and collect resources for the emergency.

Both institutions highlighted the role of football in a crisis context and emphasized that the help transcends strictly sports-related matters. "In times of pain and difficulty, the South American football family reaffirms its commitment and extends a helping hand to the Colombian people, supporting the families and communities affected by this emergency," they stated in the announcement.

In addition to the financial contribution, CONMEBOL and FCF called on the sports community to get involved in the relief efforts. Clubs, federations, strategic allies, athletes, and fans were invited to continue supporting fundraising and supply collection campaigns.

With this initiative, the main entities of South American football sought to reinforce the message of solidarity in the face of the catastrophe and position sports as a channel of support for the affected Colombian families.
