The Ministry of Bioagroindustry of Córdoba, through technicians from the Directorate General of Inspection and Control, together with officers from the Southern Rural Police and staff from the Municipality of General Cabrera, carried out inspections at establishments dedicated to the commercialization of meat products and by-products in that locality.
The objective of the operations was to determine the origin of the pork meat linked to the positive cases of Trichinella spiralis (trichinosis) reported by the Zoonosis Area of the Provincial Ministry of Health.

During the inspections, it was verified that the establishments were providing slaughtering services without the corresponding authorizations and that meat and meat by-products from clandestine slaughtering were being commercialized.
In addition, the hygienic and sanitary conditions for carrying out the activity were not adequate.
Pork meat seized in Córdoba
Consequently, approximately 100 kg (220 pounds) of pork meat by-products were seized and subsequently destroyed at an authorized cold storage facility with a digester, after it was confirmed that their origin was from clandestine slaughtering.
The slaughter and sausage processing room was also closed off with tape and seals.
The population is advised to consume meat and meat by-products only from authorized establishments that can demonstrate the origin of the food, in order to prevent possible infections.
The actions were carried out within the framework of Provincial Laws No. 8417 (Prevention, control, and eradication of infectious diseases), No. 10326 (Code of Coexistence), and No. 6974 (Slaughtering and industrialization of meat).
