Córdoba: Schiaretti insists on 2025 and revives internal conflicts that are imploding Peronism

The former governor seeks to reinvent himself in October, but his return exposes fractures and agreements that weaken Córdoba's PJ

Juan Schiaretti has relaunched himself in Córdoba with the intention of retaining power in the October legislative elections. The move, far from renewing, exposes the crisis of an exhausted Peronism. His candidacy revives the same conflicts that sank the UCR in the '90s and today threaten to drag down the provincial PJ.

The former governor is trying to revive old internal disputes by presenting them as "political renewal". However, it is the same personalist scheme he has used for three decades. The lack of self-criticism translates into a strategy that divides Peronism more than the opposition.

Schiaretti's return confirms that Cordobesismo lacks a future and only seeks to prolong its privileges. His candidacy doesn't represent change, but rather the revival of a retreating model. In a scenario where Milei swept Córdoba in 2023 with 74%, the maneuver seems unsustainable.

A repeated and worn-out internal dispute

Schiaretti is now facing Natalia de la Sota, daughter of his historic political partner. The duel aims to recreate the 1993 internal contest, but in reality it shows the PJ's stagnation. The party repeats last names instead of offering solutions to current problems.

The return of "Gringo" comes without innovative proposals and with a political machine that has lost its appeal. Instead of paving the way for new leadership, Cordobesismo clings to the same old names. The logic of power is sustained by family disputes and not by future-oriented projects.

The internal fight doesn't strengthen the movement, but rather fractures it even more.Córdoba has made it clear that it no longer trusts these old formulas. The electorate massively leaned toward Milei and La Libertad Avanza, distancing itself from a Peronism that only offers recycling.

A past marked by betrayals and business deals

Chronicles from the '90s recall the betrayals that marked the internal disputes of Córdoba's PJ. Schiaretti even then benefited from Cavallo's money and the support of privileged economic groups. That same business scheme explains his political survival to this day.

In that campaign, the defections of leaders like Oscar González showed how Cordobesismo was built on personal convenience. Thirty years later, the same last names are once again competing for positions, confirming that the model has not evolved.

Far from representing independence, Schiaretti has always been functional to central power and the interests of large groups. His current candidacy once again displays that dependence. Córdoba has become trapped in a web of pacts that have little to do with the well-being of its citizens.

Córdoba has already chosen another path

In November 2023, Javier Milei received 74% of the votes in Córdoba, showing a dramatic political shift. That support was a clear message against old politics. Schiaretti's insistence on recycling himself ignores that popular will.

Meanwhile, the PJ seeks to reincarnate itself in family names, LLA embodies the alternative for the future. Córdoba's electorate has shown that it doesn't want more privileges or shady deals. It wants real change that breaks with the power model Schiaretti represents.

October 26 will be the ultimate test. Córdoba will decide whether to return to the past of sterile internal disputes or to consolidate the liberal course set in 2023. Everything indicates that provincial Peronism arrives worn out and divided to an election that could bury it.
