State unions in Córdoba held a massive demonstration through the downtown streets on Monday, causing major traffic chaos. The protest aimed to reject the pension reform and the increase in contributions that the Executive implemented to fix the deficit.
The demonstrators gathered at their respective union headquarters from 10 in the morning to march toward the provincial Legislature. Traffic was completely interrupted in key areas such as the intersection of Olmos and Maipú, where the Police set up a physical barrier.
Roberto Cristalli, head of UEPC, confirmed the participation of teachers in the march toward downtown Colón and General Paz avenues. The union demand targets the salary deductions that seek to finance the structural deficit of Córdoba's Pension Fund.
Daniele calificó al gobernador como un "pendejo de mierda" y aseguró ante los activistas que lo único que tiene en la cabeza es su reelección.
Union threats
The day of protest ended with a central rally where Suoem leader Rubén Daniele hurled harsh insults at Governor Llaryora. The historic municipal union leader used offensive terms to refer to the governor amid the dispute over public funds.
Daniele described the governor as a "fucking brat" and told the activists that the only thing he has in his head is his reelection. The union leader intensified his speech by threatening to "go after the official wherever he is, even if it's under his own bed."
Los gremios estatales de Córdoba realizaron este lunes una masiva movilización por las calles del centro generando un gran caos vehicular.
The leader concluded his speech by calling the head of the Executive a "cheater and son of a bitch" before the crowd that endorsed his words with fury against the governor. It is worth recalling that Daniele already has prior judicial records for incitement to violence that resulted in community service.
Legal battle
Political tension is escalating while Córdoba's Judiciary recently rejected an injunction filed to stop today's increase in contributions. The court ruling validated the Executive's measure that establishes a staggered increase in deductions to sustain the pension system.
Roberto Cristalli titular de la UEPC confirmó la participación de los docentes en la marcha hacia las avenidas Colón y General Paz del centro.
