The union corporation decided to block the province of Córdoba this Thursday, February 19. State and transportation unions made the strike official to throw a wrench in the gears of the labor modernization that is being debated in the Chamber of Deputies. The measure of force seeks to protect the privileges of the union caste at the citizens' expense.
The strike takes thousands of Córdoba residents who need to produce and work in order to subsist as hostages. There will be no urban or interurban transportation due to the decision of the leadership of UTA and AOITA.Unionism prefers to punish the everyday user rather than accept changes in its status.
To the transportation blockade is added the state apparatus with the adherence of SEP, UEPC, and SUOEM. Schools and public offices will remain closed by order of the union bosses. They use the structure of the State to campaign against a law that was voted for by the majority.

Corporate extortion
The unions reject labor modernization by alleging a supposed loss of acquired rights. However, they defend an archaic system that promotes the lawsuit industry and unemployment. They oppose freedom of contracting in order to safeguard their multimillion-dollar coffers and their political power.
Suoem, led by Rubén Daniele, taunted by asking whether modernizing is "going back to the 19th century." The combative rhetoric seeks to hide the fear of losing absolute control over municipal resources. Federal and provincial judicial employees also join the general strike.

The cost of not working
The strike represents an enormous economic cost for the private sector that sustains the country with its taxes. Shopkeepers and SMEs will lose a day of billing because they will not be able to open or receive their employees. Those who always pay for the protest party are the ones who produce genuine wealth.
The CGT Córdoba Regional called for a demonstration in the downtown area to pressure national deputies. They seek to use force to prevent the advance of a law that is necessary to unblock formal employment. Resistance to change is expressed through extortionate methods that paralyze activity.
Meanwhile, as the world moves toward dynamic labor relations, Argentine unions choose to look to the past. This Thursday Córdoba will be the snapshot of backwardness imposed by the force of blockades. Modernization is urgent in order to put an end to informality and poverty.
