The governor of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo, participated in the opening of the AEM Annual Forum 2026, organized by the Mendoza Executives Association (AEM), where he defended the province's economic direction, highlighted fiscal balance policies, and stated that the future of growth will depend on the ability to combine technological innovation with leadership.

The meeting, held at the Park Hyatt Mendoza Hotel, brought together businesspeople, executives, entrepreneurs, officials, and leaders from the productive sector to discuss the economy, artificial intelligence, and the future of work, three key themes that marked this year's edition.

Cornejo defended fiscal balance and tax cuts

During his presentation, the governor stated that economic stability remains the main condition for attracting investments and generating sustained growth.

"Technology alone does not guarantee development. The difference is made by institutions, people, leadership, and the quality of the decisions we are capable of making," he affirmed.

Cornejo emphasized that Mendoza has maintained several consecutive years of positive current savings, consolidated fiscal balance, and significantly reduced its dollar debt, which allowed for increased public investment in infrastructure and improved conditions for the development of the private sector.

Additionally, he defended the tax pressure reduction policy promoted by his administration.

"The private sector needs a State that supports and does not suffocate it," he stated, recalling that the reduction of Gross Income Tax resulted in an accumulated fiscal relief of over one billion dollars for the Mendoza productive framework.

In this regard, he reaffirmed the commitment to continue reducing the Stamp Tax until reaching a rate of 0% by 2030, as part of a strategy to improve provincial competitiveness.

"Artificial intelligence does not replace leadership"

One of the main themes of the forum was the impact of artificial intelligence on the economy and the labor market.

Cornejo considered that the incorporation of these technologies will transform processes, professions, and ways of producing, although he maintained that leadership will continue to be a determining factor.

"Artificial intelligence does not replace leadership, it challenges it," he affirmed.

As he explained, new technological tools will modify the way of working, but it will still be the responsibility of individuals to define strategies, take risks, form teams, and make the most important decisions.

The governor also highlighted the potential of Mendoza's productive matrix and stated that the province has the conditions to take advantage of a more stable macroeconomic context.

In this sense, he emphasized the contribution of companies, universities, entrepreneurs, and the scientific-technological system to drive a new phase of growth based on innovation and private investment.

"No government can do it alone, and no company can do it alone," Cornejo stated, stressing the importance of strengthening the collaboration between the State, the private sector, and academic institutions.

The AEM Forum brought together businesspeople and leaders from the productive sector

The opening also featured the participation of the lieutenant governor Hebe Casado, the provisional president of the Senate Martín Kerchner, the president of the Chamber of Deputies Andrés Lombardi, the head of the Supreme Court Dalmiro Garay, the mayor of Guaymallén Marcos Calvente, and the president of the Mendoza Executives Association, Jorge Mosso.

During his speech, Mosso stated that economic growth requires clear rules, trust, and close cooperation between the public and private sectors.

He also highlighted that leadership will be key to efficiently incorporating artificial intelligence and generating more competitive organizations capable of adapting to an ever-changing economic and technological landscape.

The AEM Annual Forum 2026 included conferences by specialists in economics, innovation, and leadership, as well as networking opportunities among businesspeople, officials, and institutions aimed at promoting new development opportunities for Mendoza.
