Caminos de las Sierras turned to the courts after the violent obstruction of traffic on the road to Carlos Paz

Caminos de las Sierras decided to confront in court the union leadership that violently held the main route to Punilla hostage. These union entities, under the pretext of a pension protest, trampled on citizens' essential right to move freely. The blockade was carried out between 10 and 11:30 on Monday, causing unacceptable traffic disorder for the thousands of affected users.

During that period of absolute impunity, the demonstrators created traffic jams that reached a critical length of 4 kilometers (2.49 miles). The concessionaire company warned that these reckless maneuvers seriously endangered the physical integrity of the families who were traveling. The entity's spokespersons emphasized that the unions' actions disrupted public order at a toll point where the risk of accidents was high and serious.

The complaint keeps that these criminal behaviors fall under Article 194 of the Argentine Penal Code regarding obstruction of traffic. It is essential for the justice system to act firmly to put an end to these archaic methods of coercion that cause so much harm to society. The company requested to be admitted as a private complainant in order to ensure that those responsible for this outrage face legal consequences.

Stopping unions' criminal behavior

Various unions were identified by their flags and clothing, publicly exposing those who led this attack on traffic flow. This mafia-style mobilization not only obstructed ground transportation, but also compromised the safety of the tollbooth workers. Given the seriousness of the events, a formal request was made to lift the judicial recess in order to speed up the procedures related to the case.

Union leaders even threatened to replicate these illegal actions at other strategic toll points on the access network to the capital. The institutional decision to finally file criminal charges against those who believe they are above the law and taxpayers' rights is appropriate. No sectoral demand justifies endangering the lives of others through the systematic blockade of road infrastructure of such importance.

The intervening prosecutor's office will have to determine the individual responsibilities of those who used force to block vehicle passage. Defending freedom of movement is an essential task to ensure that union whim doesn't paralyze the daily efforts of the majority. This legal action sets a necessary precedent to eradicate violent protests that undermine coexistence and the legal framework.
