They demand 15 years in prison for the former president of the RFEF for alleged corruption.
Ángel María Villar, former head of the governing body of Spanish football, is accused of awarding contracts for personal benefit and for his son
After the Luis Rubiales scandal, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is once again under the scrutiny of the Spanish Prosecutor's Office, which this time requests the arrest of Ángel María Villar, former president of the organization, and a sentence of 15 years in prison.
The former RFEF leader had been in preventive detention while being investigated for business corruption and embezzlement for his own benefit and that of his family during his tenure at the head of the Federation.
According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Villar allegedly awarded contracts for friendly matches of the Spanish National Team, as well as commercial agreements and service contracts with the aim of favoring his son through the company Sport Advisers SL.

Investigations determined that the RFEF received significantly lower amounts than agreed for organizing friendly matches, while the company linked to Villar obtained a higher percentage of the revenue. These matches are said to have taken place after La Roja's victory in the 2010 South Africa World Cup.
In total, it is estimated that the Spanish Federation lost around 630 thousand euros between 2010 and 2012, the period during which Villar held the presidency. In 2017, shortly before being formally investigated, the Spanish Court of Arbitration for Sport removed him from his position.
Who is Ángel María Villar?
Villar presided over the federation for 29 years, from 1988 to 2017. He had already been suspended previously after he, his son, and other officials were detained on suspicion of mismanagement, embezzlement, corruption and document forgery. Although he always denied committing any irregularities, after his arresthe resigned from his positions as vice president at FIFA and UEFA.

In 2018, Villar was replaced as president of the federation by Luis Rubiales, who in turn resigned in 2024 following the scandal caused by the non-consensual kiss to player Jenni Hermoso during the Women's World Cup award ceremony, in which Spain was crowned champion.
