After the Luis Rubiales scandal, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is once again under the scrutiny of the Spanish Prosecutor's Office, which this time requests the arrest of Ángel María Villar, former president of the organization, and a sentence of 15 years in prison.
The former RFEF leader had been in preventive detention while being investigated for business corruption and embezzlement for his own benefit and that of his family during his tenure at the head of the Federation.
According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Villar allegedly awarded contracts for friendly matches of the Spanish National Team, as well as commercial agreements and service contracts with the aim of favoring his son through the company Sport Advisers SL.

Investigations determined that the RFEF received significantly lower amounts than agreed for organizing friendly matches, while the company linked to Villar obtained a higher percentage of the revenue. These matches are said to have taken place after La Roja's victory in the 2010 South Africa World Cup.
