The President of the United States, Donald Trump, officially announced his endorsement of businessman and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to serve as governor of Ohio in the elections to be held on November 6, 2026.

In a message posted on his social network Truth Social, Trump praised Ramaswamy, with whom he competed in the 2024 Republican primaries before Ramaswamy withdrew his candidacy and endorsed him.

"Vivek Ramaswamy is running for governor of the great state of Ohio, a place I love and where I won in 2016, 2020, and 2024. I know him well, I competed against him, and he is something SPECIAL. He is young, strong, and intelligent," wrote the president.

Trump described Ramaswamy as "a very good person who truly loves our country" and stated that his leadership would be beneficial for both Ohio and the nation.

"Vivek will fight tirelessly to grow the economy, reduce taxes and regulations, promote 'Made in America,' strengthen national energy, keep our borders secure, stop migrant crime, support our veterans, ensure law and order, protect election integrity, and defend the Second Amendment," Trump added.

The president concluded his message with an emphatic statement: "Vivek Ramaswamy will be a great governor of Ohio and has my full and absolute endorsement. He will never let you down!"

Who is Vivek Ramaswamy

Ramaswamy's career, at 40 years old, combines business success and a meteoric political rise within the Republican Party. He is the founder of Roivant Sciences, a biotechnology company based in New York, and was the youngest presidential candidate in 2024, where he stood out for his direct style, nationalist rhetoric, and defense of the free market.

Despite his young age, Ramaswamy became one of the most prominent voices in the Republican primaries. His proposals caused attention and debate within the party.

Among them, he advocated for the elimination of birthright citizenship and has maintained a skeptical stance on climate change, which he called "a hoax." At the time, he stated: "More people are dying from bad climate policies than from climate change itself."

On a personal level, Ramaswamy is married to surgeon Apoorva Tewari, with whom he has two children.

The businessman had already worked with the Trump administration after being appointed co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Tesla CEO Elon Musk. However, he resigned from the position in January 2025, stating that he had "future plans" in his home state, which anticipated his run for governor.

With Trump's endorsement, Ramaswamy emerges as the favorite of the conservative wing in Ohio, a state that has been crucial for Republican victories in the last three presidential elections.

The president's support could guarantee him a significant advantage in the primaries and solidify his image as one of the main heirs of the "America First" movement within the party.
