Donald Trump manages to pass a historic budget with a significant tax cut and a reduction in public spending

The United States Congress approved this week the ambitious budget bill presented by President Donald Trump, marking a milestone in the country's fiscal history. The package, called by its proponents the "Big, Beautiful Bill", represents the largest tax cut recorded to date, along with a substantial reduction in public spending and a strong commitment to immigration order and national security.

With a narrow vote of 218 to 214 in the House of Representatives, the bill became a decisive legislative victory for Trump and the Republican leadership, led by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune.

Only five Republican lawmakers voted against it—two in the House and three in the Senate—, where the tie-breaking vote was cast by Vice President JD Vance.

The budget law approved under President Donald Trump's leadership represents a decisive step toward consolidating an economic model based on fiscal freedom, order, and responsibility in public spending.

With a historic tax reduction of $4.5 trillion over the next decade, the bill consolidates and expands the 2017 tax cuts, eliminating taxes on tips, overtime, Social Security, and loans for vehicles manufactured in the United States. In addition, it establishes permanent increases to the child tax credit, directly benefiting the working middle class and encouraging consumption and economic predictability.

In line with efficient management of resources, the plan includes $1.2 trillion in cuts to programs such as Medicaid and food assistance, introducing stricter work requirements to access those benefits. This measure seeks to reduce chronic welfare dependency and promote entry into formal employment, in line with a vision of government that prioritizes merit, work, and self-sufficiency.

In addition, a projected reduction in the fiscal deficit estimated at at least $2 trillion is expected, without affecting strategic areas such as defense and security. The budget includes an investment of $350 billion in national security, strengthening agencies such as ICE, CBP, and Customs, advancing the final phase of the border wall, and establishing mechanisms for immigration processes to be funded by immigrants themselves rather than by taxpayers.

The deportation of up to one million illegal immigrants per year is also planned, along with the implementation of new fees for those in irregular immigration status, which will allow operations to be partially funded without compromising public finances.

The approval of the "Big, Beautiful Bill" reflects a decisive shift in United States economic policy. The new budget proposes a combination of tax relief, reduction of unproductive spending, and strengthening of national sovereignty. In Trump's own words: "It's time for the United States to prosper again through economic freedom, order, and work. That's exactly what this budget achieves."
