In the past few hours, Boca received an unexpected judicial setback. Xeneize must face an amount paid to Emanuel "Bebelo" Reynoso for his transfer
to Minnesota United in 2020.
The No. 1 Court of the City of Buenos Aires overturned a first instance ruling and determined that the club must pay the midfielder 15% of that sale, equivalent to about $660,000 plus interest of1.5% per year since August of that year.
In the initial ruling, it was considered that the player had voluntarily donated that percentage, which is why his claim had been dismissed. However, the new resolution rescinded that argument and ordered the corresponding payment
. Bebelo Reynoso will receive more than $600,000 for his pass to Minnesota United
According to the file, Boca must pay the amount "within five days of notification of the liquidation “, with thededuction of the Income Tax, in addition to paying the costs and court fees in both instances.
One of the key points for the review of the case was the statement made by Reynoso's defense, who maintained that the alleged donation was signed under pressure as a condition for specifying his passage abroad. In that regard, it was noted that the football player accepted the agreement in a context in which he could lose the transfer. Finally, the argument was considered decisive by the Justice, which understood that the situation was incompatible with the protection of the player's labor rights
.
In this way, Reynoso, currently on loan at Deportivo Cali from Talleres, achieved a favorable ruling several years after leaving the club. However, Boca still has the possibility to appeal the decision, so the judicial dispute may not be completely closed
