Ariel Broggi will return to work alongside the millionaire coach and will join as the main field assistant in preparation for the start of the preseason for the second semester.
In the midst of the break period for the World Cup, Eduardo Coudet continues to outline the work structure with which he will face the second half at River and has already defined a new member for his coaching staff. Ariel Broggi will join as the main assistant coach starting June 17, the date when the team will resume training to begin preseason.
The arrival of the former coach of Banfield and Gimnasia de Mendoza is based on a decision rooted in trust and mutual knowledge. Broggi accompanied Coudet in several of the most important projects of his career and was part of his coaching staff at Racing, Internacional de Porto Alegre, Celta de Vigo, and Atlético Mineiro.
Broggi has already been Coudet's assistant at other clubs, including Racing.
The search for a new collaborator had been one of the priorities for the millionaire coach. Since his arrival in Núñez, the formation of the coaching staff has undergone various changes and alternatives. After the departure of Patricio Graff, who had worked with him in Spain, the position was filled by Damián Musto, although Coudet sought to add another experienced assistant.
Although names like Luis González and Javier Pinola initially appeared among the options he considered, their respective professional commitments prevented negotiations from advancing, and ultimately the chosen one was Broggi.
The decision also implies a change of direction for the former defender, who sought to establish himself as a head coach after his recent experiences. In 2025, he managed Banfield for four months before resigning due to poor results, and shortly after took over at Gimnasia de Mendoza.
At the Mendoza team, he had a much more positive performance, finishing first in his zone in the Primera B Nacional and subsequently achieving promotion after winning the first final against Deportivo Madryn. However, his initial steps in the top category were not the best, and he mutually agreed with the club to leave the position, thus ending an eight-month cycle.
Broggi achieved promotion with Gimnasia de Mendoza in 2025.
Despite his intention to continue developing his career as a head coach, Coudet's call was decisive. The professional relationship between the two strengthened over the years and was accompanied by several sporting successes, such as the 2018/19 Superliga and the 2019 Champions Trophy with Racing and the 2023 Mineiro Championship with Atlético Mineiro.
While River is also advancing in the search for reinforcements and analyzing possible departures ahead of the transfer market, the coach considers it key to strengthen his work group to face a demanding stage. With Broggi's incorporation, he adds a trusted piece to tackle the challenges that lie ahead for the Núñez team.
