Telefe began to define one of its major bets for the coming months and made a decision that generated surprise. After it was revealed that Ian Lucas would no longer be the host of the new children's edition of MasterChef, it was announced who the channel has chosen to take his place: Verónica Lozano.
The news had been anticipated by Ángel de Brito and it was finally the host of Cortá por Lozano herself who confirmed that she received the proposal. In a conversation with Intrusos (América TV), Vero Lozano shared that the discussions began several weeks ago and that the project is on track.
“The concrete proposal arrived and Fede (Levrino) told me about it about 20 days ago,” revealed the presenter during a mobile segment with Alejandro Guatti.
Ian Lucas had won the public's affection with his participation in MasterChef
In this way, Lozano could add a new format to her extensive television career after Telefe decided to postpone Bake Off, the baking reality show that was initially planned to be under her hosting.
Although she avoided declaring the project closed due to the usual changes that can occur in television programming, Vero Lozano acknowledged that everything is progressing for her to become the new host of MasterChef Kids.
“I don’t want to get ahead of myself because the timelines in TV are complex, but, in principle, everything is set for it to happen,” she explained.
The host also revealed one of the reasons that may have led Telefe to prioritize this format over Bake Off. As she explained, the decision is related to production costs and the possibility of utilizing the infrastructure that the channel already has.
Vero Lozano will be the new host
“The MasterChef studio is already set up; it was built for Wanda's edition and it remains,” Lozano detailed. The same space will be used again soon, as Wanda Nara is set to begin filming a new season of MasterChef Celebrity in September.
What will happen to Ian Lucas after being removed from hosting
One of the main questions that arose after the change was what will happen to Ian Lucas, who was initially seen as the chosen one to lead the program.
However, Vero Lozano clarified that the influencer could remain involved in the project, albeit in another role.
“I understand that Ian will be part of the jury or will have a role as a coach or on social media. He did really well in MasterChef and has a lot of appeal with the kids. Ian's name is also on the table,” she noted.
