A fetus of more than 30 weeks of gestation was found on Wednesday in a vacant lot in the Nueva Fe neighborhood, in Reconquista, Santa Fe province. The discovery occurred after a 24-year-old woman was admitted to the local hospital. The authorities have opened an investigation to reconstruct how the incident happened.

The case originated around 11:50 AM, when staff at the Reconquista Hospital alerted the police about the woman's admission, who lives in the same neighborhood. According to information released by local media, after examining her, doctors determined that she had undergone an abortion at her home and that the gestation exceeded 30 weeks.

The young woman's grandmother reported that during the morning, her granddaughter told her that she had gone to the bathroom and that she had aborted, although at that moment she did not know where the body was. Following this information, personnel from the Investigative Police and Scientific Criminalistics intervened and began working to locate the fetus.

Around 2:50 PM, investigators received a report that family members had found it in a vacant lot located about 200 meters west of the house. The body was transported by the family members to the Reconquista Hospital, where it arrived without vital signs.

The authorities ordered an autopsy

The forensic doctor ordered an autopsy to establish the causes and circumstances of the incident. Meanwhile, investigators are trying to determine if other individuals had any involvement in what occurred.

While the judicial case progresses, the 24-year-old remains hospitalized in the gynecology department of the Central Hospital of Reconquista. The investigation must clarify the conditions under which the abortion occurred and what happened afterward with the fetus.

The episode has generated shock in the Nueva Fe neighborhood and in the city of Reconquista. Neighbors and authorities are closely following the development of the investigations, which are still in the initial stage.

So far, no further details have been released regarding the woman's health status or possible third-party involvement. Judicial authorities are working to gather all necessary elements to fully clarify the case.

The investigation continues at the site

Scientific Criminalistics personnel surveyed the vacant lot where the fetus was found and collected samples to add to the investigation. The body was immediately transported to the hospital to preserve the evidence.

The judicial case is open, and the autopsy will be key to determining whether it was a spontaneous abortion or if external factors were involved. For now, the young woman remains under medical care at the local hospital.

Family members of the woman assisted the authorities by indicating the exact location of the discovery. The episode, which involves a fetus of more than 30 weeks, keeps the Reconquista community on edge while awaiting the results of the forensic examinations.

The Investigative Police continue to take statements and gather information in the Nueva Fe neighborhood. The goal is to accurately reconstruct the sequence of events from the moment the young woman noticed the situation until the discovery of the body in the vacant lot.

At this time, the judicial investigation has not yielded definitive conclusions, and it is expected that the results of the autopsy will provide relevant data regarding the circumstances of the fetal death.
