Who will be serving customers in stores on Commerce Employee Day
Stores may operate with service provided by their owners or with employees who agree to work that day.
El lunes shoppings y supermercados permanecerán cerrados.
In the latter case, current labor regulations must be strictly observed: compensation must be paid as if it were a national holiday.
Furthermore, the day can't be granted as compensatory time off for weekly rest.
Why is the date of Commerce Employee Day being moved
The celebration, established by Law 26,541, is scheduled each year for September 26. However, this time, it was agreed to move it to Monday, September 29 to promote workers' rest and facilitate the organization of commercial activity.
The date was established by Law 26,541 in 2009, and is governed by Collective Labor Agreement 130/75, which grants sector workers the same rights as on a national holiday.
This means that employees may choose not to work or, if they do, must receive double pay.

Meanwhile, neighborhood stores, kiosks, self-service shops, and stores operated by their owners are not required to close. Many of them usually open as normal, taking advantage of the closure of large chains.
For this reason, consumers are advised to plan their purchases in advance or turn to local businesses on that day.
