After remaining a fugitive from justice for 12 years, a former Premier League referee was finally sentenced for rape and sexual abuse, events that occurred in 2009.

According to reports, the victim recounted that Wilson convinced him to go to his former apartment with the promise of attending a party full of "many girls".

However, Wilson deceived him and once inside, he locked him in the residence. There he forced him to perform oral sex and later sexually assaulted him while playing pornographic videos on the television.

The victim, whose name is withheld for protection reasons, stated that he was held in Wilson's home for three to four hours, until he was finally allowed to leave. This episode, which occurred in 2009, did not come to public light until 2021, when the victim recognized Wilson in an article reporting his conviction for sexually inciting teenagers in 2011.

Steven Wilson's Background

The Daily Mail report details not only the abuse conviction but also other episodes involving Steven Wilson. Judge Patrick Thomas described him as "sly and manipulative" when sentencing him to fifteen months in prison for attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with a fictitious 15-year-old teenager through text messages.

In another episode that occurred in 2010, Wilson attempted to lure two teenagers to his hotel room for a "night of fun" and offered them money to accompany him.

Additionally, Wilson was found guilty of violating preventive measures that prohibited him from contacting minors under 17 years old and failing to notify that he traveled to the 2010 World Cup in a group that included a child.

Refereeing Career

Under the name Steven Dorr, Wilson began his refereeing career in 1985 at the local level. In 2000, he was appointed president of the Worcester Referees' Society and in 2005 he was promoted to the Premier League as an assistant referee.

A few months later, he joined the group of 50 selected to officiate in the Football League. "My ultimate goal is to officiate in the Premier League," he declared then. However, his career ended abruptly when his off-field conduct became known, a situation that came to light in 2009 and cost him his license.
