Franco Colapinto closed a weekend to forget at the Austria Grand Prix. The Argentine driver finished 15th, far from the points zone, mainly affected by a failure in his A526 during the start and the lack of pace in the rest of the race that would allow him to gain positions.
Once the race was over, the native of Pilar detailed what happened at the start, where he started 16th and due to a loss of power quickly fell to the back of the pack. "No one touched me, I lost power. I was stuck, I started, I lost power and they started passing me, it seemed to recover a bit and then I left turn 1 and it stalled again, I had nothing and everyone started passing, I ended up 22nd", he explained.
The Argentine detailed that the issue was related to the engine's electrical system, an aspect that had already caused complications during the weekend. "So I don't know what happened, we ran out of boost, we need to understand why, I think it was a tough weekend with the engine and the electrical part that was more challenging than other weekends", he commented.
The start had been one of Colapinto's strong points in recent races, making the problem even more frustrating for the Alpine driver. "The start is always our strength and today I reacted well, I had a very good first two or three meters and then the car stalled. We need to understand a bit what happens with those starts that didn't go well here in Austria and be better in Silverstone".
"It was a very bad day. With no rhythm at all, very slow, sliding a lot, I was stuck behind the Williams at the beginning, it was very difficult to pass. A long and tough race, the rear tires couldn't hold up, the grip I had at the back was terrible, and we need to understand the reason and be better in Silverstone", he concluded.

Now, Alpine will need to analyze the mechanical and performance issues that affected the Buenos Aires driver's car to try to turn the page and regain competitiveness next weekend in Great Britain.
When does Colapinto race again
After this bitter pill, the Argentine driver will seek to recover and return to the points zone at the Silverstone Grand Prix. Action at the British circuit will kick off on Friday, July 3 with the first free practice and sprint qualifying and will close on Sunday, July 5 with the main race. It is worth remembering that last season, Colapinto couldn't even start the race due to problems with his A525.
