In recent weeks, a nostalgic trend has become a sensation on Instagram: celebrities and public figures have started sharing photos from 2016, a year that in 2026 will mark a decade.
The idea is simple but effective: go back to the past and show what those first moments were like that now seem distant. Franco Colapinto was not left out of the trend and decided to join in with a post that quickly went viral.
The Argentine driver shared a gallery of images from that initial stage of his career and accompanied the post with a message full of humor and emotion.

"2016! So loooong ago, so vintage and how much I enjoyed it!! How old I am! 12-year-old me", he wrote, unleashing a flood of reactions among fans and colleagues.
The post quickly filled up with likes and comments that celebrated the young driver's journey. "How sweet, please," "So much history in such a young guy," and "For a great 2026" were some of the standout messages. Other followers were more emotional and recalled the path he has traveled: "You fulfilled the dream of that little boy who said he wanted to reach Formula 1. You did it, Franco," they wrote.
The post worked as a kind of trip back in time and made it possible to see a teenage Colapinto, still very far from the present that now finds him as part of the elite of world motorsport.
Sus primeras presentaciones a nivel internacional se dieron en 2016
Back then, Franco Colapinto was just 12 years old and was beginning to make his way in the world of karting. During 2016 he achieved one of his first major milestones by being crowned national Pre-Junior champion, an achievement that marked a turning point in his sporting career.
That same year he also began competing at the international level, which meant a deep change in his personal life: moving abroad and adapting to a demanding routine, far from his family and friends. Without knowing it, that process was bringing him closer and closer to his great objective: to reach Formula 1 and represent Argentina in the top category.

Colapinto's growth was constant. In 2018, he won a karting competition as a demonstration sport at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, together with María García Puig. That same year he made his debut in single-seaters in Spanish Formula 4 with the Drivex team, where he delivered an outstanding performance and was crowned champion in every race in which he took part.
