The lead-up to the Hungarian Grand Prix of Formula 1 had a particular moment when the FIA brought together in the same press conference Franco Colapinto, Fernando Alonso, and Carlos Sainz, just four days after the 2026 World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.

When asked about the final held in the United States, the Alpine driver acknowledged the superiority of the Spanish team, although he made it clear that he was proud of the Argentine National Team's journey. "It was difficult as an Argentine. Spain deserved to win the World Cup. But I am proud of our National Team and proud of Messi. I think all Argentines feel the same way I do," Colapinto stated.

The Argentine, however, ended his response with a joke directed at the world champions: "I want to congratulate them on their victory. I hope they are more creative with the songs in the next World Cup. They were a bit boring."

The reference to the World Cup did not go unnoticed in the conference, as Colapinto experienced the tournament very closely during the Formula 1 season. In various races, he was seen with Argentine shirts and flags, and even during the weekend of the Miami Grand Prix, he had the opportunity to meet Lionel Messi in person, whom he praised on several occasions.

On the other side, Carlos Sainz stated that he always had confidence in the outcome of the tournament. "I always had the feeling that Spain would win it, I felt it was for Spain and I think they deserved it. Very proud to be Spanish," expressed the Williams driver.

For his part, Fernando Alonso also praised the performance of the team led by Luis de la Fuente and highlighted the great present of Spanish football. "There’s not much more to add; I enjoyed it a lot, Spain played a great tournament. And also the girls, we are world champions too, so it’s great to see the whole country celebrating," noted the two-time world champion.
