Gearbox listens to fans: Claptrap can be muted in Borderlands 4
Borderlands 4 retains its essence of humor, chaos, and action, but presents itself as more open to customization
Borderlands 4 will arrive with one of the most requested features by the community: the ability to adjust or completely mute Claptrap's voice, the iconic robot of the franchise known for its unique sense of humor.
This new feature aims to offer a more customizable experience, ideal for those who find the character endearing... or irritating.
Claptrap with volume control: between humor and silence
Since its first appearance, Claptrap has divided opinions. While it is an essential part of Borderlands' humor and narrative identity, its constant interventions weren't to every player's liking. Sam Winkler, narrative director of Borderlands 4, announced the inclusion of an exclusive volume slider for Claptrap, with an adjustment range between 0% and 200%.

Winkler explained that, even if the player decides to lower the volume to the minimum, certain references and hidden jokes will remain as "easter eggs" for those who choose not to turn it off completely. This decision reflects a nod to the hardcore fan and to those who prefer to explore without interruptions.
Kairos: a new open world without transitions
The story will unfold in Kairos, a completely new world that eliminates the abrupt transitions between maps seen in previous installments. This open and seamless environment was designed to promote uninterrupted exploration and narrative immersion.
The plot will focus on the Timekeeper, a new and mysterious antagonist who leads his minions in an attempt to alter reality. The threat presents a challenge worthy of the Vault Hunters, who will need to customize their skills and strategies to face the secrets hidden in Kairos.
New characters and combat improvements

Borderlands 4 will introduce four new Vault Hunters, each with unique abilities that allow players to adapt their playstyle as they wish. A new enemy faction is also introduced: the Rippers, a brutal horde that will intensify the pace of combat.
At the community's request, the game will include an optional tactical radar, which will make it easier to locate threats and objectives during firefights. This tool improves planning and adds a strategic layer to the already frenetic gameplay characteristic of the franchise.
A game that listens to its community
The ability to mute Claptrap, along with improvements in combat, exploration, and narrative, reflects Gearbox's willingness to adapt the franchise to the preferences of the modern player. Borderlands 4 retains its essence of humor, chaos, and action, but presents itself as more open to customization and to the balance between entertainment and immersive gameplay.
With these improvements, Borderlands 4 is preparing to win over both Pandora veterans and new explorers of Kairos.
