After the final results of Group B were confirmed, it was time for Group C to define everything in its third match. On one hand, Brazil took the lead in the group after defeating Scotland 3-0, with Scotland finishing third and still having chances to advance, while Morocco finished second after winning 4-2 against eliminated Haiti.
Scotland 0-3 Brazil
The match would start evenly and without clear chances for either side; however, that parity would quickly be broken in favor of Brazil at 6: Rayan intercepted the ball from Scott McKenna and the rebound fell to Vinícius Júnior, who would get past goalkeeper Angus Gunn and score to make it 1-0.
The Canarinha would extend their lead at 22, again due to a defensive error from their opponent and thanks to Vinícius, but after a VAR review, the referee disallowed the goal for a foul on central defender Jack Hendry.
At the end of the first half, the Real Madrid forward would have his revenge and now, after a cross from Bruno Guimarães, he would score with a header for his personal double and the 2-0 lead.
In the second half, the Scratch would continue to dominate their opponent and manage to increase the difference again. At 59, Guimarães would receive the ball in the midfield, shake off two defenders, and pass to Matheus Cunha, who would shoot without hesitation to score the 3-0.
Beyond some chances to further extend the score, after this conversion, the most notable moment would be the introduction of Neymar Júnior, who would return to play for his national team after more than two and a half years since his last official match.
In the other match, during the first minutes, although Morocco would have possession, surprisingly it would be Haiti who opened the scoring. At 9, Jean-Kévin Duverne would reach the byline on the right and cross for LennyJoseph, who with a backheel would deflect the ball off the back of Yassine Bonou, who would have an incredible blunder to score his team's first goal in this World Cup.
Although the Africans would have several dangerous chances, it wouldn't be until the 38th minute that they would equalize: Bilel El Khanouss would send in a cross that goalkeeper Johny Placide, who had been performing well up to that point, could not clear, leaving it for Achraf Hakimi to simply push it in for 1-1.
Haiti would react quickly and in less than 5 minutes would make it 2-1 thanks to a blast from Wilson Isidor from outside the box that was completely unstoppable for Bonnou. Just moments later, Hakimi would cross back forIsmael Saibari, who would again level the score.
In the second half, the Moroccans would try everything to turn the match around, however, due to their own inaccuracies and the great defensive work of the Central Americans, they wouldn't succeed until the 77th minute: after a rebound from a corner kick, the ball would fall to Soufiane Rahimi, who would unleash a whip from the center of the box that would find the back of the net, with a deflection.
When it seemed that Morocco would settle for a narrow victory, the fourth goal came at the end. At 88, Rahimi would receive a ball on the goal line, keeping it just inside, and would cross for a solitary Gessime Yassine who would effortlessly score the 4-2. Although there were doubts about whether the ball had gone out or not, after a VAR check, the last goal of the match would be validated.
With these results, Brazilfinished first with7 points and will face the second of Group F (currently Japan) in the Round of 16 next Monday, June 29 at the NRG Stadium in Houston.
On the other hand, although they earned the same points, Morocco finishedsecond on goal difference (+6 to +3) and will face the first of Group F (currently the Netherlands) on the same day at the BBVA Stadium in Monterrey.
Further down, Scotland finished third with 3 points, and will depend on how the rest of the groups finish to see if they ultimately qualify as one of the 8 best third-placed teams and advance to the next round. If they do, they will face the first of Group E (Germany) or Group A (Mexico)
Finally, Haiti closed its World Cup participation at the bottom of the table with no points, slightly improving its only performance up to this edition (Germany 1974), where they also lost all their matches, but with many more goals against.
