The Argentine National Team has once again found itself at the center of controversy following the 2026 World Cup, this time due to a virtual petition driven by fans from various countries requesting its exclusion from future editions of the World Cup.

The initiative is being spread through the site argentinaout.com, where the initial goal was to gather five million signatures. However, after the final against Spain, the number of supporters grew rapidly and, according to the organizers, it has already surpassed 23 million signatories from 170 countries.

The portal states: "More than 23 million people from 170 countries signed this petition in less than a week. FIFA ignored us, but Spain responded. Thank you, Spain."

Despite the impact it has had on social media, the campaign is not official and does not have any sporting consequences for the Argentine National Team.

The petition is not linked to FIFA, the Argentine Football Association (AFA), or any organization responsible for organizing international competitions. Consequently, the collected signatures are not legally valid and cannot influence any potential sanction or exclusion of the Argentine team.

One of the most striking facts about the campaign is the number of signatures achieved in just a few days.

According to the promoters of the initiative, the petition is close to surpassing one of the most significant records of this type of platform. The record belongs to the international Jubilee campaign, launched to promote debt relief for the poorest countries, which gathered around 24 million signatures.
