The launch took place at La Bombonera, with a special event in the renovated L stand and a projection on the stadium's boxes. Through its social media, the club defined the new jersey as “a tribute to the origins of the Xeneize passion.”
The outfit features a white base accompanied by fine navy blue vertical lines, while in the chest area it incorporates a white horizontal stripe. The model is completed with a round neck and cuffs in the same color.
One of the most striking details appears on the shoulders, where the traditional three stripes of Adidas are found. Meanwhile, the Trefoil logo occupies the space usually reserved for the modern emblem of the sports brand.
The story behind Boca's new jersey
The design has a strong connection to Boca's recent history, but also seeks to recover elements from the early years of the institution.
One of its main references is the alternative jersey from the 2006/07 season, used during a period especially remembered by fans. That campaign was led by Juan Román Riquelme, who had returned to the club in 2007, and ended with the conquest of the Copa Libertadores, the last one won by the “Xeneize” to date.
However, the inspiration goes even further back in time. The concept recovers the aesthetic of 1906, just a year after the club's founding, when Boca used a white jersey with black lines.
In this way, the new outfit combines references from different eras to build a retro style proposal, but adapted to modern football.
A jersey linked to La Boca and its roots
The presentation also focused on the cultural identity surrounding the club and the neighborhood of La Boca. The influence of Genoese immigrants, fundamental in the construction of the Xeneize identity, was incorporated as part of the concept developed by Adidas.
“From the roots of La Boca to the heart of every fan,” is the phrase chosen to accompany the launch of the new alternative jersey.
