Nowadays, Lucas Martínez Quarta is going through a particular moment at River. Although he continues to be one of the undisputed starters for Eduardo Coudet and one of the most influential voices in the locker room, the defender is among the most questioned players by fans due to his recent performances. In this context, after the 2-2 draw against Vélez, he shared a lengthy reflection on his social media that quickly generated a response.

The defender posted on Instagram a text by writer and motivational content creator Ariel Villasante. While he did not make direct reference to the team, the coaching staff, or his current football situation, the message appeared amid a phase marked by criticism and lack of results.

"Let them talk", begins the text shared by Martínez Quarta. The post suggests that other people's opinions will be present regardless of the decisions a person makes: "They will talk when you leave, when you stay, when you change, when you make mistakes, when you start over. They will even talk when you do things right because people always find something to say about the lives of others".

From there, the reflection focuses on the need not to be conditioned by those voices. "Perhaps, true freedom begins when you stop living trying to make others understand your decisions", the text states, which also emphasizes: "You don't need everyone to understand why you distanced yourself, nor do they need to know how much it cost you to get to where you are right now".

The post also refers to continuing the path despite the criticism. "Sometimes, you just have to keep going. Because in the end, your life is not built with the opinions of others, but with the decisions you make when no one is watching", it expresses.

The message concludes with an even more direct idea about the weight that external opinions can have: "You cannot control what others say about you. But you can decide how much power their words have over your life. That's why, let them talk. You keep living, keep moving forward, and, above all, keep writing your story". "Because in the end, the life that deserves to be heard is not the one others tell about you, but the one you dared to live", it closes.

Martínez Quarta finds himself at the center of a contradictory reality at River: while Coudet maintains his confidence in him and uses him as a regular piece in defense, some fans question his performance and hold him responsible for some of the team's recent poor results. In this scenario, his post was interpreted as an indirect response to the criticism he receives.
